I like building apps that do slightly unusual things — especially when software needs to talk to hardware.
My background is in both hardware and software engineering, so I’m particularly interested in Mac and iOS applications involving Bluetooth, BLE, NFC, cameras, USB, screen capture, device control or automation.
I build and maintain KeyPad, which turns a Mac into a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse and media remote for phones, tablets, TVs and other devices. I also built Screen Mirror, which captures an iPhone or iPad display over USB and lets you control the device from your Mac.
They aren’t just experiments. KeyPad has reached #18 on the Mac App Store, and Screen Mirror reached #31 in Mac App Store Utilities.
Those apps have also led to some interesting ideas for custom applications.
Maybe you need a custom iPhone camera app for inspection, photography or data collection. Maybe you want to use a Bluetooth keyboard to automate testing on phones, tablets or TVs. Perhaps you need to capture or record ten iPhones at the same time, build an internal BLE configuration utility, read NFC tags as part of a workflow, or make a Mac application that controls some piece of hardware your company builds.
Those are exactly the kinds of projects I like.
Sometimes that means building something new. Sometimes one of the things I’ve already built gets you 80% of the way there and we can create something specialized around your workflow.
I’ve spent a lot of my career building hardware products as well — from embedded systems to Android devices and AR headsets — so I’m comfortable digging below the application layer when that’s where the problem leads.
