Connecting to your iPad/iPhone works, but sometimes it gets a little tricky.
When you click on the “Pair iPhone/iPad over Bluetooth” what the app does is:
- Start broadcasting that the Mac is *also* a Keyboard and Mouse
- Launch the Apple bluetooth Pairing dialog
Pairing is not under app control so problems you see are related to the Apple Core Bluetooth System. Really…
This is a long list, but these steps do work.
Steps – If you have never paired your iPhone or iPad over bluetooth:
- Click on the “Pair iPhone/iPad over Bluetooth” button
- You will see a dialog box showing you the bluetooth devices that you are connected to
- On your iPhone/iPad go to Settings | Bluetooth
- This makes your iPhone discoverable
- Wait for the iPhone/iPad to show up in the Mac list
- Wait…wait…wait…
- Sometimes it may not show up for a minute or so.
- Close the bluetooth connection dialog on the Mac and click on “Pair iPhone/iPad over Bluetooth” again
- Make sure your iPhone screen is on and on the Settings | Bluetooth screen
- When it shows up, click on the connect button
- This will trigger a pairing dialog on both the iPhone/iPad and the Mac
- if the code is same on both devices, click “Pair” on the iPhone/iPad
- The iPhone will now connect to the iPhone
- Sometimes when you connect, the position in the dialog box will change. Scroll up to find it.
- Often the iPhone/iPad will connect…and then disconnect. Ignore the disconnected message below the iPhone/iPad on the Mac
- Select the iPhone/iPad in the connection dialog.
- Click on the Select button
This should complete the pairing. If it does not…repeat.
There is one more important step.
- Disconnect the iPhone USB cable
- Wait 5 seconds, or till the Screen Mirror window goes away
- Plug it back in
Now try to use the keyboard. “Command – H” is a good start. It will let you know if the iPhone is responding to events.
Steps: If you have paired the iPhone/iPad to the Mac before
- Go to Settings | Bluetooth on the iPhone
- If your Mac is already paired, click on the (i) on the right and forget the Mac
- On the Mac, click on the “Pair iPhone/iPad over Bluetooth” in ScreenMirror
- If you see the iPhone there, disconnect/forget the iphone
- Now go back to the above steps and re-pair the iPhone/iPad to the Mac
