Privacy Policy

Effective: October 10, 2026 · ToolBunch LLC · tools@toolbunch.com

1. Our approach

We build tools, not profiles. Dance Tools works without an account, and we try to know as little about you as possible. Unlike our offline Mac apps, Dance Tools needs an internet connection to keep songs, snippets and sequences in sync between Leaders and Dancers. This policy explains exactly what that connection involves. It applies to Dance Tools on iOS, iPadOS and Android.

2. Using Dance Tools without signing in

When you open the app, it creates a random, anonymous identifier with Google Firebase so it can read song information from our servers. That identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any account. We do not ask for or receive any personal information from you. Like any internet service, Google’s servers process your IP address and basic connection information to deliver the data. We do not use that information to identify you.

3. Signing in with Apple or Google (optional)

Signing in is only needed to register your own songs, become a Co-Lead, or be added as a Dancer. When you sign in, we receive and store:

  • your name (as provided by Apple or Google),
  • your email address (Apple lets you hide it with a private relay address),
  • an account ID, plus the date the account was created, your song allowance, and the list of songs you lead.

We use these only to run your account. We never email you for marketing, and we never show your email to other users. Your name is visible to others in two places: in your QR code, when you choose to show it, and in the Co-Lead and Dancer lists of songs you’ve been added to.

4. Songs and your audio

Your audio files never leave your device through us. They move between people only when you share them, using your device’s share sheet.

For songs you register, our servers store song information: the song name, description, snippet names and times, sequences, the private and playback settings, the names of Co-Leads and Dancers, a file checksum used to match the audio, and timestamps. Treat this information as visible to other Dance Tools users. Marking a song “private” controls who can open it in the app. It is not a guarantee that the song’s details are secret.

5. Camera

The camera is used only to scan QR codes. Images are processed on your device and are never stored or sent to us.

6. Crash reports and usage data (off unless you turn them on)

Diagnostics are off by default. Only a signed-in user can turn them on, in Account → Share crash reports & usage data. If you turn this on, we receive:

  • crash reports (technical details of the crash, your device model, OS and app version, and your account ID), and
  • usage events, such as “song imported” or “snippet created”, without any song names or descriptions.

We use this only to find bugs and improve the app. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days and usage data for up to 2 months. Turning the setting off stops collection, and unsent reports are deleted.

7. What we never do

We don’t show ads. We don’t sell or “share” personal information, as those terms are defined in California law. We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We don’t use advertising identifiers. We don’t collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or payment information.

8. Service providers

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Crashlytics, and Analytics) to store and process the data above on our behalf. We also use Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In for sign-in. Their own privacy policies apply to their services. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where these providers operate.

9. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep account and song information until you delete it. Account → Delete Account permanently deletes:

  • your account and profile,
  • every song you lead, for everyone, and
  • your Co-Lead and Dancer entries on other people’s songs.

It also revokes Dance Tools’ Sign in with Apple access. Anonymous identifiers contain no personal information. If you need help, or want a copy of your data, email tools@toolbunch.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK under the GDPR and California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict its processing. Our legal bases are: providing the service you ask for (account and song data), and your consent (diagnostics), which you can withdraw at any time. To exercise these rights, email tools@toolbunch.com. We won’t discriminate against you for using them.

11. Children

Dance Tools is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not sign in. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the effective date and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
